An event every day that begins at 12:00am, repeating until Apr 1, 2017
AKAKŪ is hosting a video story-telling contest about what sugar has meant to Maui, and more importantly, what a post-sugar future might look like to all residents of Hawaii.
The cultural diversity we see on Maui today was seeded by plantation life. “Aloha Sugar” video contest is our chance to reflect on the rich history of sugar on Maui. Our goal is to learn more about visions of our future, take a peek at our uncertain present and learn more about Maui’s rich history through stories, songs and art.
We are now accepting submissions for TWO to TEN minute videos (Sugar Features) and 30-60 second videos (Sugar Snaps) that reflect real life stories, ideas, or experiences from Maui Sugar’s past, present or future.
